International Hospice/Palliative Care Day/ Memorial Event 2015

International Hospice and Palliative Care day was celebrated on October 10, 2015 on Ave Maria premises. Dr. Jessica Serrao, Medical Officer welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of Hospice/Palliative Care. Rev. Fr. Stephen Pereira, OCD who was the Chief Guest delivered a message on the need for Palliative Care at the end of life. On this occasion, a solemn candle-light vigil was held to commemorate the deceased. The loved ones of patients participated in an interfaith prayer service that followed. Benefactors, well wishers and volunteers of Ave Maria were felicitated with a small memento as a token of appreciation for all that they do. A short skit on Cancer was enacted by Ave Maria staff which was followed by a power point presentation on cancer by Dr. Naveen Rodrigues. Col. John Serrao proposed a vote of thanks and Mr. Roshan Crasta compered.
