Dr Lavina Noronha Currently serves as the Director of AMPC. She received her M.Phil. from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore and her Doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U.S.A. In the recent past, Dr. Noronha served as Associate Professor and Director of the MSW Program at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A. In addition, she has had several years of clinical practice experience in the fields of mental health, Crisis Respite, Employee Assistance and Hospice in the U.S.A. She also has several professional publications and presentations on a variety of topics to her credit and is the Founder President of CREST International Inc, U.S.A. and a member of the Indian Association of Palliative Care.
Dr. Jessica Serrao MBBS, DGO Currently working as a medical officer at Ave Maria Palliative Care facility. She did her MBBS and DGO from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. Being married to an Army Officer, she has travelled all over India and has worked in various capacities in various hospitals. She has also done honorary work in various army welfare clinics looking after the physical as well as emotional needs of the families of army personnel in remote army bases where no other lady doctor was available. After retirement she settled in Mangalore. Here, along with her husband, who is a retired army officer, she helped in setting up a polyclinic for the retired service personnel, for whom no medical facility was available in Mangalore before this. She worked as a medical officer in this ex-servicemen contributory health clinic for 6 years. She joined us as a medical officer 2 years back. She has done a certificate course in Palliative care medicine in Kidwai Memorial Cancer Institute in Bangalore to learn more about this field of medicine. Now she visits this centre once or twice a week and is available 24/7 in any emergency. She is a member of the Indian Association of Palliative Care. Rev. Fr. Joe Tauro, OCD joined the Carmelite Community in 1971 and has been a priest of the order since 1978. Fr. Joe has specialized in Bible at the Biblicum in Rome. He has taught biblical exegesis in so many seminaries and continues teaching in some seminaries and institutes of formation; especially the Gospel of John and the Prophets and Wisdom literature. In the recent past he has served as the Director of Dhyanavana, Carmelite Institute of Formation for young women religious in Mysore, Provincial Superior of the Carmelite s of Karnataka-Goa Province and as Rector and Professor f Carmelite major seminaries in Mysore and Mangalore and at Teresianum in Rome, Italy. His hobbies and interests include writing/ editing books and articles on spiritual matters. He is well-versed in a total of 20 ancient biblical as well as modern languages
Prof. Clement D’Souza is a Retired Professor of Economics from St. Agnes College, Mangalore. He is a Yoga teacher, a pranic healer, a Reiki master, a hypnotherapist, and a NLP practitioner and teacher and a consultant in rainwater harvesting. Additionally, he serves as a visiting professor at several institutions around the country.
Mrs. Aruna Gojer currently serves as the coordinator of Counseling and Women’s Fellowship departments of Karnataka Southern Diocese in Mangalore. MRs. Gojer has a masters degree in Social Work from Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore. Mrs. Gojer has several years of clinical counseling experience at Prajna Counseling Centre and at Chetana Counseling Centre where she served as the Director. In addition, she has more than two decades of teaching and training experience with youth and women’s groups in Karnataka.
Prof. Rita Noronha has been functioning as an educator in Community Development Studies since 1971 at Roshni Nilaya, School of Social work. Her expertise include training for community based development; human rights promotion; mobilizing marginalized groups like farmers; victims of exploitation and injustice especially women and children; street vendors and domestic labourers. She has served as a member of various organizations at the local, state and national level. Being a Managing Trustee of Centre for Development Studies and Education, her vision is to contribute to peace, justice and sustainable development.
Harold D’Souza is an Information Technology professional with the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and is currently based in Washington DC. In the past, he has served in several countries in multi-cultural work environments. He has keen interest in human spirituality and is actively involved in helping charitable causes through churches and social organizations. Harold is currently serving as the president of CREST International, Inc, a not for profit organization which has a goal of establishing hospice and palliative care services worldwide
Rev. Fr Charles Serrao, OCD currently serves as the Provincial Superior of Karnataka-Goa Province. He was ordained a priest in 1978. He obtained a Licentiate in Psychology and Pedagogy from Salesian Pontifical University in Rome and a Diploma of Specialization in Consecrated Life at “Claretianum”, an Institute of Theology for Religious Life, in Rome. He also, holds a Diploma in Human Growth and Development Relationships, Spiritual Counselling Skills, Community Living from the Institute of St Anselm, London.
Mrs. Veronica Pinto has been working as a staff member of the Centre for Development, Studies and Education ® since 1991 and as one of its trustees since 1996. She has been actively engaged in the promotion of self-help groups and Cooperatives of women vegetable farmers, milk producers in Dakshina Kannada. She functions as a consultant to self-help groups and cooperatives formed through CDSE and is also actively engaged in supporting persons who are victims of injustice and exploitation and has made a significant contribution to the achievement of the objectives of CDSE.
